How2 Restore raw fMRI data from Mac CD backup - UCLA 3T MRI Lab

Subject: Restore raw data from Mac CD

____________from LadyDay MAC________________
1- Lookup the number of the APD backup CD that contains the data that you need
........A- the CD directories (should) be found on the LadyDay Mac in the data viewing lab
........B- look in file desktop folder [users]
................and select folder [Lab Database & APD Backups]
...................and select folder [APD.backup.info]
......................and select folder [APD.CD.rename.files]
.........................look down the list to find one for the approximate date and APD disk# you need
........C- open rename file (a text file) and scroll down to confirm that your data is there
2- note CD# and get it from storage area (i.e., backups in Nov. 98 are CD#20-something)
3- make a temp. folder on LadyDay's desktop and copy your subject's data into it from the CD
4- also copy the rename file for that CD into the same temp. desktop folder
5- use [fetch] program one the MAC to copy your temp. folder from the MAC to your UNIX folder
.........................note: ALWAYS use the raw data option in FETCH for image data

6- DELETE YOUR TEMP. FOLDER FROM THE MAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7- [cd] to the directory where images and rename files were copied
8- type [ restore_name.pl -from /apd????/anmr_scans/image -ren ??????.rename -dir . -out rename ]
.....................Key to restore.name.pl data entry syntax:
..............................-from = directory where data is within rename file
..............................-ren = name of rename file
..............................-dir = directory where files to be renamed are
..............................-out = output file w/ mv commands in it
9- type [ source rename ]
10- manually change endings from .g to .gz if the "z" has been lost in the transfer
